When a file format is not recognized, Photo Mechanic attempts to retrieve any embedded tiff/jpg previews. In many cases, such as with digital backs from Phase One, the thumbnail is tiny and the enlarged preview may be pixelated.

Some file formats may need QuickTime from Apple. These formats are GIF, PICT, BMP, and TGA. All movie files need QuickTime for thumbnail display. Macs should have QuickTime already installed.
